| tine sau fait seb les truc de jarreet droit ça vient certainement de la periode où les ic tiraient les roulottes, ils faisaient donc une sélection sur ce point.... tu as eu confirmation du mot anglais.......

| En fait, dans le standard en anglais le mot utilisé est Straight qui veut dire à la fois droits (pas tordus) et sec... j'ai pris donc le sens "sec" pour ne plus pretter à confusion...
Dans le standard en néerlandais... il n'en parlent pas, seulement des jarrets puissants et bien attachés... (En jugement, c'est très loin d'être ce qu'on nous demande de sélectionner, ni même ce qu'on observe sur les gypsy dans le pays d'origine, vu qu'il est recherché plutôt des jarrets limites à la Clydesdale/Shire... donc je pense que c'est bel et bien une erreur d'interprétation)
Hors le standard Francophone est une composition basée sur des traductions littérales des standards Anglophone et Néerlandophone... en essayant d'y collé au mieux... et les mots choisi lorsque que les sens sont multiples le sont sur la base de l'expérience de terrain en jugement...
Inutile de dire que cela représente un travail titanesque (j'ai pas été aidé)... La traduction concernant les jarrets, date du début du travail (en 2001) a l'époque ça ne m'avait pas frappé, maintenant j'aurai bondi en le relisant...

Doit être compacte, sans être trop courte, généreusement musclée y compris le chignon. L'encolure et le chignon de l'étalon doivent être puissamment musclés.
le chignon musclé  , le chignon n'est souvent que de la graisse, sur des chevaux non gras il n'y a pas de chignon!!! c'est l'encolure qui est musclé pas le chignon

Algemene Verschijningsvorm (met belijning, skelet en beweging)
De Irish Cob is compact en krachtig, stevig gebouwd wat betreft bespiering en botten, maar toch geschikt als een veelzijdig te gebruiken paard. De ene Irish Cob is wat meer “beknopt” dan de andere.
De Irish Cob is evenredig geproportioneerd, staat rechtop en vierkant en heeft een imposante uitstraling.
Belijning– het hoofd dat fier rechtop gedragen moet worden staat op een correct gebogen en stevig aangezette nek. De nek moet schijnbaar doorlopen over een stevige schoft tot aan het begin van de rug (dit is vooral belangrijk bij hengsten). De rug moet kort en recht zijn en glooiend oplopen naar een stevig gespierde croup. De ruggegraat en de heupbeenderen mogen niet zichtbaar zijn. De croup is tamelijk hoog en overvloedig met goed gevormde bespiering, de bovenkant van de achterhand is uitzonderlijk goed bespierd, breed en stevig.
De bovenkant van de croup moet enigszins schuin en niet te abrupt aflopen naar de staart; dit geeft een hoge, goed aangezette staart en draagt bij aan ronde welgevormde achterhand.
Skelet– Irish Cobs worden onderverdeeld in Medium gewicht of Zwaar gewicht, (enige afwijking in zwaarte van botten is alleen toegestaan bij merries en ruinen).
Hoogte– De maximale hoogte voor een Irish Cob is 1.70 meter.
Beweging – Irish Cobs met hun unieke manier van bewegen, weelderige manen, staart en beenbeharing en de grote variatie van mogelijke kleuren geven een prachtig beeld, vooral als ze zich bewegen.
Nota Bene: De algemene indruk inclusief de belijning is gerelateerd aan een dier in goede conditie.
Temperament– De Irish Cob heeft een rustige en gewillige aard, met een vriendelijke houding ten opzichte van mensen en andere dieren.
Hoofd– moet recht zijn, goed uitziend en in verhouding met de rest van het paard. Het voorhoofd moet breed zijn en de snuit, kaak en wangen goed geproportioneerd.
Mond– moet een correct gebit hebben.
Ogen– moeten groot, rond, open, helder en wijd uit elkaar geplaatst zijn.
Oren– moeten goed gevormd zijn, niet te groot en goed aangezet.
Nek– moet compact zijn, niet te kort, en ruim bespierd inclusief de manenkam. Nek en manenkam bij de hengst moeten zeer krachtig bespierd zijn.
Schouders– moeten stevig, krachtig en schuin zijn.
Schoft– moet niet te veel uitsteken en moet zijn ingebed in veel spieren en vlees.
Borst– moet krachtig zijn, welbespierd en niet te breed of te smal.
Rug– moet kort zijn, recht, goed bespierd en ontwikkeld en schuin oplopen in de richting van de croup.
Achterhand en achterbenen– de achterhand moet goed ontwikkeld zijn, met ronde vormen, breed en krachtig gebouwd met een goed bespierde hoge croup. Het dijbeen moet goed ontwikkeld zijn, tamelijk lang en met goed aangezette krachtige hakken. De achterbenen moeten stevig van bot en goed bespierd zijn.
Middenhand– het paard moet kort zijn en compact met tonvormig aangezette ribben.
Voorbenen– moeten krachtig zijn en niet te kort en niet te lang. De onderarm moet lang genoeg zijn, wel bespierd en stevig van bot.
(Voor)Knieën en Hakken– moeten goed ontwikkeld zijn en ruime proporties hebben maar moeten in goede verhouding staan tot de rest van het paard
Kogelgewrichten– moeten in goede verhouding staan tot de andere gewrichten wat betreft kracht, afmetingen en bouw.
Koten– moeten voldoende botmassa hebben en niet te lang zijn (te weke of te steile koten zijn een minpunt).
Hoeven– goed gebouwd, harmonisch en groot genoeg om zonder probleem het gewicht van het paard te kunnen dragen.
Beenbeharing – bevedering (sokken) is een karakteristieke en decoratieve eigenschap van het ras de Irish Cob. Vooral bij de zwaardere Irish Cobs is dit prominent aanwezig. De hoeveelheid aanwezige beenbeharing kan echter sterk verschillen, vooral bij de middelgrote Irish Cobs.
Manen en staart– moeten overvloedig zijn en tot een behoorlijke lengte groeien.
Beweging en Aktie– In draf is een tamelijk overdreven hoge frontaktie vanuit zowel de schouders als het voorbeen wenselijk om de voor de Irish Cob typische beweging laten zien. Deze aktie wordt ook wel “step” genoemd en geeft een wat opgerichte houding waardoor ook de zwaardere paarden een indruk van lichtheid in de beweging geven.
Sommige Irish Cobs hebben in draf de neiging iets naar buiten te “tikken” met hun voorbenen. Dit “tikken” moet niet worden verward met “maaien”, wat een minpunt is. Zolang het “tikken” bij beide benen gelijk is en niet te veel wordt overdreven, wordt dit beschouwd als tamelijk typisch en acceptabel. De algemene beweging en aktie van een Irish Cob moet vlak zijn met een rechte en aktieve ruime stap.
Shows
Op premiekeuringen en shows worden Irish Cobs ingedeeld in drie hoogte secties:
Sectie A Paarden van 1.54 tot en met 1.70 meter
Sectie B Kleine paarden 1.49 tot en met 1.53 meter
Sectie C Pony's tot en met 1.48 meter
Het Voorbrengen– Bij het showen aan de hand moeten de manen, staart en sokken zo natuurlijk mogelijk zijn. Echter vlechten of trimmen is toegestaan. De snor, een typisch kenmerk van de Irish Cob, kan bij het voorbrengen zo nodig getrimd worden.
Bij wedstrijden onder het zadel en in het tuig blijven manen, staart en sokken vrij en natuurlijk.
Kleurenstandaard Voor Irish Cobs
Een Bonte Irish Cob heeft op zijn lichaam witte aftekeningen op een basiskleur. De witte aftekeningen bedekken of verbergen een deel van de basis lichaamskleur. De hoeveelheid wit kan varieren van een kleine witte vlek tot bijna algehele bedekking van de basiskleur.
Irish Cobs kunnen éénkleurig, zwartbont of andersgekleurd bont zijn zoals hieronder beschreven.
Zwartbont (piebald): Zwart met witte aftekeningen.
Andersgekleurd bont (Skewbald): Iedere andere effen kleur met witte aftekeningen inclusief grijs en roan.
Albino is niet gewenst en wordt uitgesloten van de fokkerij
Percentage Wit bij de Bonte Irish Cob
De hoeveelheid wit bij een bonte Irish Cob wordt geschat en uitgedrukt als een percentage van het hele lichaamsoppervlak met uitzondering van witte vlekken op hoofd, benen, buik/onderkant, manen en staart.
Afhankelijk van het percentage wit wordt aan de de kleurtyperig de term “Flashed” (tot en met 50% wit) of “Overlaid” (meer dan 50% wit) toegevoegd.
Flashed: De witte aftekeningen lijken onderbrekingen van de basiskleur en vormen “vlekken” en een zeker contrast. Plekjes, vlekjes of rozetten van de basiskleur in de witte vlekgedeeltes kunnen de contrastwerking verminderen.
Overlaid: Deze beschrijving wordt gebruikt wanneer de witte aftekeningen overheersen en de schijn wordt gewekt dat de basis kleur “ligt op” het witte lichaam. Plekjes, vlekjes en rozetten van de basis kleur kunnen de verschijning van “Overlaid” dieren versterken en geven kans op een grotere verscheidenheid van aantrekkelijke kleurpatronen. |

BREED STANDARD
GENERAL APPEARANCE (including topline, bone and motion)
The Irish Cob is compact and powerful, ample both in muscle and bone, yet, with an ability to perform as a good all-purpose animal. Some Irish Cobs tend to be more "stocky" than others. The Irish Cob is well balanced and proportioned, standing straight and square and offering an imposing appearance.
TOPLINE - The head, which should be held proudly should be carried on a powerful and arched well "set on" neck. The neck should appear to "carry on" through good withers and to finish at the start of the back (this feature should be particularly evident in stallions). The back which should be short and straight should slope gently upwards to a well muscled croup (the back bone/spine or the hip bones should not be apparent). The croup which is quite high and generous should have both croup muscles well defined, the top of the quarters being exceptionally well muscled, broad and ample. The angle of the spine from the croup to the tail should slope gently downwards and should not be exaggerated, this allows for a high, well "set on" tail and contributes to good well rounded quarters .
BONE - Irish Cobs are classified as either medium weight, or,heavy weight, (Some allowance in bone measurement can be made for mares and geldings only).
IN MOTION – Irish Cobs with their unique action, luxuriant hair and feathering and the large range of colours available, combine to present a beautiful and varied sight to see when turned out at their best, particularly when in motion.
NOTE: General appearance including topline relates to animals in good condition.TEMPERAMENT
The Irish Cob should possess a docile and willing nature, with a friendly disposition towards humans and other animal species.
HEAD - should be straight, handsome and in proportion to the rest of the horse. The forehead should be broad and the muzzle,  and cheek should be generous.
MOUTH - should have a level bite.
EYES - should be quite bold, open and set well apart.
EARS - should be neat and well set on.
NECK - should be compact, but not too short and should be generously muscled including the crest (stallion’s necks should be particularly well muscled and crested).
SHOULDERS - should be ample, powerful and sloping.
WITHERS - should be of average protrusion or height and should be encased in plenty of muscle and flesh.
CHEST - should be powerful, well muscled and not too broad or narrow.
BACK - should be short, straight, well covered in muscle and flesh and slope gently upwards towards the croup.
HIND LEGS – The hindquarters should be very generous, well rounded, broad and powerful with a well muscled high croup. The second thigh should also be very generous, quite long and well coupled to good straight powerful hocks. The hind legs should be well boned and muscled.
BODY - should be short and compact with ribs well sprung to barrel shape.
FORELEGS - should be powerful and not too short. There should be a good length of well muscled forearm and generously boned shins.
KNEES AND HOCKS - should be well developed and of generous dimensions but should be in balance with the proportions of the horse.
FETLOCK JOINTS - should match the other joints in power, size and build.
PASTERNS - should also be of sufficient bone and not too long (straight or over angled pasterns are a fault).
HOOVES - should be well shaped, neat and of a size capable of carrying the frame of the horse without stress.
LEG HAIR/FEATHERING - Leg hair/feathering is a characteristic and decorative feature of the Irish Cob breed. This is especially prominent in the heavier Irish Cobs. However, the amount of leg hair/feathering present may vary considerably, particularly in the case of medium weight Irish Cobs.
MANE AND TAIL - The mane and tail should be luxuriant and capable of growing to a substantial length.
COLOUR - Permissible colours:-
- All solid colours including greys and roans.
- All solid colours including greys and roans with white body markings.
Note:- Where there are white body markings, such Irish Cobs are either piebald or skewbald and are described as Coloured Irish Cobs. See: COLOUR STANDARD FOR COLOURED IRISH COBS.
Not permissible colours:
- Albinos.
MOVEMENT AND ACTION - In trot, a fairly exaggerated high front action which involves both the shoulders and the forelegs is desirable to allow for the typical Irish Cob action. Also referred to as ‘step’, this action when present, offers extra presence and style which gives even the heavier animals a "light" appearance when moving. Some Irish Cobs tend to "flick" their lower front legs a little to each side when trotting. This "flicking" should not be confused with "winding" (also called "dishing") which is a fault. As long as the degree of flicking is uniform on both legs and is not over exaggerated, it is regarded as quite typical and acceptable. The general movement and action of an Irish Cob should be level with a good length of stride which is both straight and active.
INSPECTIONS
For Irish Cob inspections it is preferred if the leg hair is not clipped out or trimmed. The mane can be plaited or hogged but, it is preferable if both mane and tail can be left free and natural.
SHOWING
Irish Cobs are divided into heigth sections for showing purposes only
Section A Horses - - - - over 153cms and up to 170cms.
Section B Small Horses - - over 148cms and up to 153cms.
Section C Ponies - - - - -148cms and under.
For Irish Cob showing in hand classes, the mane, tail and leg hair should be left as natural as possible. However, plaiting and trimming may help to show off some animals to greater benefit. The moustache, a feature of the Irish Cob may be trimmed if desired by exhibitors.
For Irish Cob riding classes, the mane, tail and leg hair can be left free and natural, or, the legs can be clipped out and manes hogged or plaited if desired.

pas de doute un cuisse descendant sur des "straight powerful hocks" = sur depuissants jarrets droits
straight hocks= jarret droit ça c'est sûr

Et pourquoi ce ne serait pas Sec ? C'est une autre traduction possible... et c'est clairement plus en rapport avec ce qu'on recherche dans la race... il doit y avoir une belle angulation, sinon pas e possibilités l'allonguement derrière et surtout, allures sautée et non bien plate avec un dos qui avance horizontalement... un des qualités principale de mouvement qu'on recherche... si la conformation n'est pas la le mouvement ne le sera pas non plus et ça, c'est indéniable...

| donc c'est bien se que je disais, a mon avis , ils ont fait un standart au départ par rapport aux chevaux de gitans ceux qui tiraient les roulottes.....et aujourd'hui, la hollande souhaite changer quelques points..... c'est se qu'on appel un standart evolutif

| Tu rigoles  ? Le standard il été ecrit en 1998 ... tu pense que c'était encore l'époque des chevaux qui tiraient les roulottes chez les gitans... 
Le hollandais à été traduit juste après puisque l'ICS de départ s'est dévelloppée Irlande-Hollande main dans la main. C'est pas une évolution sur des années...
En plus regarde les chevaux des gitans sur les marchés, tirant les roulottes, sur les site de vente etc... que ce soit des photos de 1998 ou de cette année (bref de la même époque)... tu n'en vois pas avec des défauts de jarrets...
Preuve supplémentaire s'il en faut, les Shires et Clydesdales qui sont à l'origine (entre autre) de la race, n'ont franchement pas de jarrets droit, limite crochus...
Enfin, si c'était commun et recherché dans la race, on en verrait beaucoup sur les concours, alors que c'est un défaut rare, bien plus rare que les jarrets crochus qui sont bien plus majoritaire par rapport au jarrets normaux (et c'était là que je disais, il faut faire attention, dans l'autre post)...
